Umstead State Park, Take 2 (7.22-7.23.22)

Bentley and I returned to William B. Umstead State Park in search of the log art.

We enjoyed a hike on the Sal's Branch Loop, which we (along with Schmanne & Paisley) turned into an in and out hike, Bentley was exhausted.   But he and I rested up so could go a little longer and find the tree art.  I'm so glad we did.

Weekend at Warthen (7.15-7.17.22)

I've been trying to get to this place since I learned about it, and was finally able to attend an event there.  We journeyed to Warthen RV Park for a quaint little weekend of camping fun.

We had the tent area all to ourselves.

I really enjoyed my instant shower tent.

They provided breakfast.  I love pannicakes!

This guy was one of my nemeses in the water gun battle at Melanated Campout last year.  I will seek revenge this year.

The band was great.

They were very interactive with the crowd.

We had a paint party.

And it wouldn't be me if I didn't participate in the line dancing.

Raving at Raven Rock (7.8-7.10.22)

Since a few of us were already going to be camping at Raven Rock State Park for a kayaking event, I decided to do a hike for Outdoor Afro Greensboro/Triad network.   We participated in a short ranger led program and mini hike on the Long Leaf Trail before headed out on the Raven Rock Loop Trail.  The RRLT is one of my favorite hikes.

My van had a gas leak, which had me terrified, and I just couldn't get myself in a good mindset to get photos of the campsite.  Plus it was H-O-T!!!!

But my Jamester came to visit me with her furbaby, Ginger.  They melted outside with me for a little chit chat.

Ranger Lindsay Baker was absolutely phenomenal.  She was very knowledgeable and interactive.

"Leaves of 3, leave them be".  I now feel like I can identify poison ivy, thanks to Ranger Lindsay.

Rollin' the Fourth Away (7.4.22)

My return to Greensboro's Fun Fourth activities was mainly due to the outdoor roller skating.

I'm still a much better skater on wood or tennis courts, but didn't want to miss the opportunity for some outdoor quad time.  I even linked up with a potential instructor for an upcoming OA-G/T event.

It was ridiculously HOT!!!!  I definitely should've began hydrating days before, b/c I did suffer a little dehydration/heat stroke/etc.  But I still had a great time.
