Concert, Kayaking, & Cobras (7.3-7.10.21)

 I hosted an Outdoor Afro G/T event in conjunction with Center City Park's outdoor concert series.   Since Dee didn't really want to do anything for her birthday, she came and hung out with us.

I hosted an Intro to Kayaking event at City Lake Park in High Point.  Due to my ongoing saga with motion sickness, I didn't hit the water.  However, I had just as much fun seeing the newbies learn, enjoy themselves experience something new, and most definitely enjoying the nature aspect.

Joyous Jordan Lake-Take 2 (12.12-12.13.20)

So I learned from Take 1, that camping with Kenji isn't going to cut the mustard.  I definitely didn't like loading Kenji, unloading at the campsite, loading back up for home, then unloading again once I got home.  It also took up too much space in my extra closet.  UGH!!!

So I revamped Rudy and decided to keep her as my travel vehicle; keeping all my city and tent camping items in her.

Here's my new Ozark Trails Darkrest Tent.  Love it!

Mountain Mushroom Mamas (10.17-10.18.20)

 It's taken me over 2 years to finally drive 1.5 hours away to visit Stone Mountain State Park (NC).  ***VIDEO AT THE END***

We started in the visitors center.  I didn't know there was such a variety of moths and butterflies.  The blue one was absolutely beautiful.

And what an archive-an actual working pay phone!!!

To our surprise, the park had an amazingly beautiful waterfall.

We thought we were at the top, but oh no, there's more....

Finally at the summit....

We met Jody & Laura at the beginning of the hike to the summit.  Laura is an adventure bug like us!  Jody, not quite as much, but he was a trooper.

On Sunday we ventured to Durham with Outdoor Afro-Raleigh to learn about mushroom foraging. 

    

                                         Now Kermit's cousin has followed me to the woods.

My hips hurt and my body aches a little, but it was well worth it.
