Lordy, Lordy, Agee is 40!!!

Just before my 39th birthday (2016), I decided  to focus on completing my Dream List (aka Bucket List to some) sooner than later.  As a result, I started planning my 40th birthday with a trip to California.  Why Cali, well, I had never been there before, and San Diego, Los Angeles, & San Francisco are on the top of the list.

I finally settled on going to San Diego first.  So here it is, my first visit to San Diego, California, including a video of my first skydive.

Day One-1/26/17:
Flying out from  Piedmont Triad Airport in Greensboro.  Maya was supposed to be my photographer, but she took more selfies of her than anything.

After arriving in San Diego, Schmanne met me at the gate, and we headed to the car rental area.  This art piece of headlights was so cool to me.

Later that night, we did a little shopping for supplies and had dinner at On the Border (? I think that was the name).

Day 2-1/27/17 MY BIRTHDAY:
The day started off with some texts and phone calls.  Thanks everyone!!!  It also started with a little sadness.  Today was supposed to be the skydiving day, however, due to high winds I had to reschedule.  So off to the zoo for plan B.

After heading back to the room for a small nap, we headed to the Gaslamp District.  Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures down there.  Just imagine a downtown area with lots of people and actual tall gas lamps along the streets.

Day 3-1/28/17:  Time to Skydive!!!
So after fake reading gobs of disclosures, I get my t-shirt and strap up.  I can honestly say that I didn't have any fear of the actual skydive.  My only fear was how my motion sickness would mix with the experience.  And without fail, I started getting sick as the plane took off.  I handled it with as much grace as possible.  Below are a few pics and the video of the actual skydive.

So, what I didn't capture was the two vomiting episodes after the jump.  I really wish someone would find a cure for that!  Nonetheless, it was well worth it for the experience.   I had to take a 3-4 hour nap for my head to recover.  Afterward, we headed to Ocean Beach and dinner:

Day 4-1/29/17:
I took Schmanne to the airport early that morning, then enjoyed my other past time-YOUTUBE videos.  At the suggestion of the Hubs, I headed to the Scripps Aquarium and a stroll around La Jolla (pronounced Hoya) beach.  I had intended on doing a hiking session, but then I read something about mountain lions and snakes, so of course, I nixed that idea.

I ended the afternoon with a great lunch at P.F. Changs, a dip and sunbathing at the pool, an RV store visit, and a short stroll at Balboa Park.

Day 5-1/30/17:
Time to head back to the 'boro.  I didn't take any pics, but thank God that my motion sickness pill actually worked today.  I was able to watch Bad Moms and most of the Queen of Katwe on the flight from CA to GA.   I had the most amazing guacamole from an ATL airport store.

All in all, I truly enjoyed turning 40 and my first Cali experience.  Special thanks to Schmanne for digging deep in her pockets for the trip and for being my ambulance driver after the skydive.  My wanderlust has increased tremendously.  I can't wait until the next adventure.........
