Congaree National Forest (10.16.21-10.17.21)

I've been wanting to visit this national park for about a year now. Mainly due to some pictures that I had seen where the forest floor was under water. I learned that those pics only happen when the area floods about one time per year. Oh well. I missed on out that, but I enjoyed my first time primitive group camping, hiking, learning history, and fellowshipping with Outdoor Afro South Carolina at Congaree National Forest in Hopkins, SC. Ranger Jon was very transparent about the park's dark history in slavery, knowledgeable about the forestry and ecology of the area, and the truth's about European colonizers affect on the indigenous people in America overall.

This little fella thought he was coming home with me. Nah

An Aggie in the Snake's Den (10.9.21-10.11.21)

Well, the seedling is college shopping, and FAMU made the list. So we headed to Tallahassee, FL to check out the campus and city, meet with an advisor, attend the open house, and just soak in some good ole HBCU football action.

I must say that Tallahassee gives me Greensboro vibes. I've now deemed FAMU "The Florida A&T". As an Aggie, I undoubtedly feel like A&T is THE BEST HBCU in the land. Moreover, it's just THE BEST university in the states. #AGGIEPRIDE I wore an Aggie shirt each day we were there (yes, even to the football game). It paid off on Monday while on campus. A young lady recognized the Aggie dog, and she was from Raleigh. I asked her several questions, and I think talking to her helped the seedling get over some of the fears of going that far away from home.

We were all impressed with the campus, the area, and the student life of FAMU. Not 100% sure, but seems like this Aggie may have birthed a Rattler.
