My DogMa Adventure...Over (5.17.17)

After longing for a furry child and even a few attempts, I finally decided to get a schnauzer back in 2002.  So on Labor Day weekend 2002, a friend and I ventured to a breeder near Concord, NC to pick up my new child.  Enter Troy.  When I first saw him in person, I new I had to have him.  He was the runt of the litter with super long legs.  The breeder wasn't the best, as I could tell the living conditions were less than up to par, and poor little Troy was covered in fleas.  We immediately got him home, cleaned him up, and welcomed him to the family.   He was shivering the entire ride home, so I made sure I held him tight and comforted him.  He was born on 5/23/2002 and departed on 5/15/2017.  He was my male child, my daughters' brother, and a light in my life.  Over the past few months, he developed some oral tumors that changed and evolved.  The last few weeks, they began bleeding.  And although Troy continued to eat, he was losing weight and having some difficulties.  It was a tough decision, but one I knew I had to make.  The journey as Troy's mom has been great, and I will miss him tremendously.  I thank those who truly loved Troy, and those who truly saw him as my family member and not just a pet (Ma, Dad, Deon, Alexis, Jo-Ahnna, Carol Jane).
