Cherokee Adventures (8.31-9.1.19)

Me & my buds headed up 40 West for some adventures in Cherokee.

First, we stopped at Smokemont Riding Stables in Cherokee.  The ride was great and the waterfalls were so peaceful.

Schmanne & Mindy

Jamie & Sarah

After the ride, we were starving.  We ventured to Bryson City for some good eats at Nate & Nick's.  We went into a few shops, but decided we were ready to freshen up and head to the casino.

We made it to Harrah's and quickly learned that we are not the best gamblers.  Maybe it's because we are all some type of accountant.   I know we frustrated the veteran gamblers b/c we were walking around looking clueless.  I lost $5, and that was enough for me.  Jamie lost $10.  Schmanne lost $25, but won back about $22, so I guess you could say she was the overall winner.   Since Harrah's had a game room, we just decided to try our luck in there to win some kiddie prizes.  I beat my all-time basketball score with 96 points.

And it wouldn't be right if I didn't run into someone I knew from Greensboro.  Hey, Bev!!!

Sunday morning, we delighted in breakfast at Waffle House, then headed to Smoky Mountain Tubing.
It started off fun. The water was a brisk 58 degrees, but once we got going we were good.  My float ended up getting stuck in the 20 feet deep area, and someone had to rescue me after about 20 minutes.  Jamie did try to swim back up stream to save me, but it was too hard.  And of course, my motion sickness got the best of me. I did have to make a deposit from my stomach into the river.  My apologies to nature, but the river creatures shared in my Waffle House breakfast.

Afterwards, I lost my smile along with my breakfast.

It was time to head back, but we made a few stops along the way to enjoy the scenery.

Had a great dinner at Cheddar's in Asheville, then back to Jamie's house, then home.

What did I learn on this trip?
I love the mountains, but I hate the windy roads to get there.
I love horseback riding, hiking, waterfalls-just nature in general.
I'm not a gambler.
I could possibly go tubing again, however, I will steer clear of 3 mile long rides.
Cherokee & Bryson City has more things that I'd like to go back to see/visit.
If I stay at the Microtel by Wyndham in Cherokee again, I'll remember to bring a soft mattress pad b/c the bed was too firm for me.
Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my friends, sharing in new/slightly new adventures, making memories.
